Permanent Structure Permit - FAQ

“Will I need a permanent structure permit for my gazebo, pergola, or pavilion?”

Great question and an important one! A permanent structure permit is sometimes required to put up one of our structures as they are sometimes viewed as a permanent structure or an addition to a living space in a lot of locations. We highly recommend looking into permitting in your area.

permitting requirements

“Where do I go to apply for a permit?”

Your municipality or local borough office is a great place to start. Most times you can stop in and speak with someone directly to obtain the requirements and paperwork on permits, or you can sometimes print the information right off the internet. The paperwork should state the terms of what is allowed at your location and what will need to be approved.

“Do you take care of the permitting?”

Unfortunately, because everyone’s situation & location is a little different, we do not handle the process of pulling permits, but we are more than happy to help you along the way!

“Do you have the drawings and information I need available to apply for permitting?”

We have basic dimensions ready to send your way when you are ready for them. Sometimes this is all the permit office needs to approve the structure. If a more detailed drawing is needed, we offer stamped, sealed, engineered drawings for an additional cost on our custom kits.

These take an extra amount of time to get back as they are custom for your structure and your location, so be sure to keep that in mind when you are planning the timeline of your structure.

If engineered drawings are needed, you may order them before ordering your structure. Engineered drawings are non-refundable. Previous customers have had great success in obtaining permit approval with the help of our engineered drawings.

“Should I have a permit in place before I order?”

It is not required to have one in place before you order but we highly recommend you at least know what your options are with permitting and what you will need to ensure your outdoor project goes smoothly on our end and your end.
